EVA AHEPA

Graduating this month, November 14, 2019 at 5pm.

This was the Dog we named after my Aunt Eva (Demetrio Orfanitopoulos) , who passed away that year,
And in lieu of flowers, donations were made towards a service dog.

Eva is named for Eva Pergantis who passed away 2 years ago this Saturday. After she passed away, I felt that contributing to the AHEPA Service Dogs for Warriors was a meaningful way to pay tribute to her. She was a compassionate caring wife, mother & sister who loved helping all people any way she could. She was a lifelong lover of animals, especially dogs.
She had 2 ties to the military. She worked many years for the US Gov't & retired from the Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, MD. Her husband Constantine served in the Army Air Force as a radio operator in WWII in the Central Burma & India Burma & China offensive. He flew many dangerous missions over the Himalayan Mountains also known as "The Hump". 1,000 men and 600 planes were lost over the 530-mile stretch of rugged terrain.

It is A TRUE HONOR that Eva lives on through the K9 for Warriors Program enabling a deserving warrior assistance with his future.

Eva AHEPA

Hello again. I happy to report that Eva is a Rockstar. The last two weeks we been going to high traffic areas and working around all the distraction you could think of. We spent a lot of time at Ikea, Costco, and historical St Augustine. These particular locations are always busy no matter what time of day it is. When I say busy, I mean busy. These high stress locations were no issue for Eva. She always remains focused on me and is not distracted by people or strange dogs, or even strange smells. Eva continues to improve across the board and is wonderful to work with. She does have a small amount of anxiety when placed in tight areas. She also is very social so when she's approached by other dogs or people, she will break her position to try and make a friend. We have been working on impulse control exercises and now, have no problem leaving Eva in down and having anyone walk up to her because I know she is not going to break her down. As she continues training, I look forward to the day she is paired with her Warrior and makes a positive impact on her Warrior's life.
Thank you so much for all that AHEPA does for our mission!
All the best and have a great weekend!
